“Excellent Service!”

Date of review: Mar 4, 2011

Very good place to stay in Cape Town.
Excellent Service in many aspects: awesome bedroom quality; information about the city & best places to visit; help for booking tours.
Near downtown & 20 minutes-walk to waterfront.
I’m very grateful!

I stumbled upon the Orange on Rose Guest House run by Bruce who runs Rose Lodge as well. I desperately needed last minute accomodation for myself and my dog in peak season. The rate was excellent and I did not expect much. I was pleasantly suprised by the accommodation. It was clean and practical. Had everything one could possible require. Bruce and his staff were always accommodating when I had various requests from replacing a fan in my room to doing laundry. I would definitely stay here again and would have stayed for more than 10 days if there had been availability.

We had a lovely stay at Orange on Rose during our recent visit to Cape Town. It is perfectly situated with everything you want, need or have to go to within walking distance. Lovely place and lovely reception. Do make this your home away from home when visiting Cape Town.

We loved staying at Orange on Rose! The apartment is adorable: clean, great location, and comfy. Bruce is so helpful with tips on Cape Town and really cares about his guests and that they make the most of their stay. If you are looking to really experience Cape Town this is a great way to do it. So much more personal than a hotel.

I and my friend, both traveled to cape town as students and stayed at Orange on Rose for a week. It is an excellent place, very well situated (near the heart of the city), quiet, secure (a security guard stands there all night, right across the house), roomy. Free breakfast – unlimited and healthy The rooms are very clean, and cleaned daily. Bruce is the most caring host I have met, always doing his best to help, while still valuing our private space. He is incredibly knowledgeable, took out time to dine with us, point out to us the routes, maps, restaurants, show us around; gave us safety tips, arranged our airport transfers for us and he did all of it as if it was a part of the deal. Importantly he did it with joy — never saw him ruffled about any of it. The place is awesome, and the host a gem of a human being. I enjoyed my stay a lot more because of this — I highly recommend it.

The location is perfect. We walked to the WaterFront, City Center, and many fun resturants.A new shopping center ,Cape Quarter, with a large grocery store is only 5 mins away. It has a great selection of sandwiches, salad etc for take out.We enjoyed bring it back making a cup of tea and eating in the dining room. Our room was large, clean, and lovely decorated. The maid refreshed it daily. The breakfast was perfect and we could eat whenever we wanted.

The manager, Bruce, was a delight and so helpful with planning the trip to suggestions of restaurants and outings.

Delightful! wonderful host, very helpful. directed us to some super restaurants around the corner, apparently some of the best in cape town and i can believe it. i will remember those tapas forever. room was clean and perfectly adequate. a little concerned re security at first but does have car guard and we were really glad to be in the thick of things in cape town as opposed to staying in outlying suburbs as we normally do. highly recommended

The facilities were great and the owner, Bruce was very helpful. He recommended some great restaurants, helped with travel plans, and was very attentive. The room/shower/breakfast were all great. The only downside is the location–it’s within walking distance to downtown Cape Town, which is nice, but it is not in a safe part of the city (even the cab drivers asked why we were staying there). It was safe to walk during the day, but not at night. The room does have a safe, and there are about 5 keyed gates to pass through, so we felt safe inside the unit. If that doesn’t bother you, then I’d highly recommend this place because it’s convenient to the rest of the city, the place is great, and Bruce is very helpful.
